Giorgio de Chirico and metaphysical art

From 7 November 2020 to 5 September 2021, at Palazzo Blu in Pisa, the “De Chirico e la Metafisica” (De Chirico and Metaphysics) exhibition showcases the “Pictor Optimus” in a long journey through images and words; a journey made up of departures and homecomings throughout the twentieth century which left significant traces that are still perceptible.

The exhibition introduces de Chirico with a series of interpretations that unveil his enigmas and reveal his magnificent labyrinth. It also includes the artist’s personal collection, known as “de Chirico’s de Chirico”, which is the fulcrum of this exhibition. 
Thanks to the support of the most prestigious national institutions, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rome, the Brera Picture Gallery (Pinacoteca di Brera), the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto to name a few, but also with the collaboration of the “Giorgio and Isa de Chirico Foundation”, the project in Palazzo Blu presents a series of absolute masterpieces that demonstrate the evolution of Giorgio de Chirico’s research and show the evolution of his brief but extraordinary metaphysical season through its most illustrious exponents.

SAFETY MEASURES FOR VISITORS

For safety reasons:

  • booking is strongly recommended;
  • the maximum number of visitors per hour is: 65 for the museum and 80 for the temporary exhibition;
  • Entry with suitcases, trolleys, large bags and back-packs is not allowed.

In order to reduce the risk of Covid 19 infection, each visitor must adhere to the following rules:

  1. Follow the instructions of security personnel at all times./li>
  2. Wear surgical masks correctly covering nose and mouth to be kept on during the entire stay. Masks are required for everybody over 6 years of age.
  3. Have your body temperature measured before buying tickets; entry is prohibited for people with a body temperature above 37,5 °C or with other flu symptoms.
  4. Before starting your visit, disinfect your hands with the gel disinfectant provided in dispensers at the entrance.
  5. Touching the works of art and the furnishings is forbidden.
  6. Keep a safe distance from other visitors of at least 1 meter.
  7. Throw away any used handkerchiefs in the bins located in the exhibition rooms.
  8. The lift can be used by one person at a time, except for members of the same family or household or people who are not subject to social distancing by the applicable regulations.
